Subprocessors
Last updated 4 November 2026
These companies help Relay run. Each one receives only what its job needs, under a contract that lets it use the data only to provide its service to us.
“Where” is where the company is based, and for hosting, where the servers are. A provider may also process data in other countries under its own safeguards. How we choose and change subprocessors is in the Data Processing Addendum.
Hosting, storage and sign-in
| Company | What it does for Relay | Data it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Railway | Runs Relay's website, app server and background work | Everything Relay handles passes through it, including request logs | Servers in the Netherlands (EU); company in the United States |
| Supabase | Database, file storage and sign-in | All store records and files: orders, emails and documents, photos, stock, sales, customer records; account names, emails and hashed passwords | Servers in Ireland (EU); company in the United States |
| Cloudflare | Runs the relay.boutique domain name and forwards mail sent to support@ and privacy@ | Mail you send to those addresses | United States |
AI models
Each receives only the task in hand, under business terms that do not let it train its models on what Relay sends.
| Company | What it does for Relay | Data it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Anthropic (Claude) | Reads vendor orders; suggests categories; drafts product descriptions; finds an order from a description; answers setup and report questions | Order documents and emails, which can include a sales rep's name and contact details; style details and pictures; open orders' details; the store's public website text at setup; questions you ask | United States |
| Fireworks AI | Reads photos and scans of orders; writes POS tag names; checks product pictures found on the web; plans report questions | Order photos and scanned pages, which can include names and contact details printed on them; style names and details; product pictures; questions you ask | United States |
| OpenAI | Makes product pictures in the Studio: a garment on a model, or on a new background | Product pictures; a photo of a model, when the store uses one | United States |
Product pictures
| Company | What it does for Relay | Data it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Photoroom | Cuts a garment out of its background | Product pictures | France |
| remove.bg (Kaleido AI, a Canva company) | The same, used only when Photoroom is not available | Product pictures | Austria |
| Brave Search | Image search for a style's product picture | Search words only: brand, style number, description and colour | United States |
Email and payments
| Company | What it does for Relay | Data it receives | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Postmark (ActiveCampaign) | Receives orders emailed or forwarded to Relay; sends Relay's invitations and address confirmations | Those emails and their attachments; the addresses they are sent to and from | United States |
| Resend | Sends sign-in emails (confirm your address, reset your password), and Relay's other mail when Postmark cannot | The recipient's email address and the message | United States |
| Stripe | Takes subscription payments | The store's name, the billing contact's name and email, card details entered directly with Stripe, what was bought | United States |
Sign-in and mailbox services you choose
These are your own accounts, used only if you choose them. Relay asks them for what you approve on their sign-in screen.
| Company | What Relay uses | What passes between them and Relay | Where |
|---|---|---|---|
| Apple | Sign in with Apple | Apple tells Relay your name and email, or a private relay address. When you delete your account, Relay asks Apple to end the sign-in | United States |
| Sign in with Google; reading order emails from Gmail, read only | Your name and email; the emails that match the filter you set | United States | |
| Microsoft | Reading order emails from Outlook or Microsoft 365, read only | Your email address; the emails that match the filter you set | United States |
The systems you connect
Your POS, web store and accounting system (Heartland Retail, Shopify, Square, Lightspeed, QuickBooks Online, Xero) are your providers, under your agreement with them. Relay reads from them, and writes to a POS or web store only when someone in your store tells it to. They are not Relay's subprocessors.
Changes to this list
Before a new subprocessor starts receiving store data, we add it here and email store owners at least 14 days ahead. An owner who objects can tell us at privacy@relay.boutique, as the DPA describes.
